Just a few words, first, about fever.
The magnificent fever! "Give me a fever, and I can cure any disease." Hippocrates
The fever is a product of the innate immune system's attempt to neutralize an infectious foreign invader (i.e. virus, bacteria), and is a beautiful symphony of intricately orchestrated actions and reactions that the body was designed to put into play to preserve itself. We are truly a wonderful, amazing creation!
Although uncomfortable, most if the harm associated with high fevers does not come from the fever itself. Rather, it is dehydration (especially if there is vomiting or diarrhea), or electrolyte imbalance, or the underlying infectious agent itself that can cause impairment. If you eat while you are feverish, "you are interfering with the body's attempt to overcome the disease and are in danger of running the fever to harmful levels. Resist the urge to eat, or just consume juices and broths, and just stay hydrated. Fever is an immune stimulant, causing white blood cell production and enhanced interferon and antibody production up to twenty times the normal rate. (Drs Wade Boyle and André Saine) A fever can be your best medicine.
On that note, there are some things you can do at home before you become sick that will help keep your immune system tuned up to fight any foreign invader. The following videos will be extremely helpful to you for boosting your immune system to prevent illness, as well as knowing what to do if you do get sick.
The first video you may want to increase playback speed (if you have that option) to 1.25 or 1.50, as it is a lot of information given over a two hour period. But, if not, sit down with a client of herbal tea or a glass if water and a notepad and learn. I can't stress enough the importance of this information.
The second one is a demonstration of hydrotherapy treatment specifically for the lungs.
